The Sacramento Asian Peace Officers Association is proud to present the Vu Nguyen Memorial Scholarship.

The application deadline was on Friday April 30th 2010 at 5pm.

This memorial scholarship honors Sacramento County Sheriff's Detective Vu Nguyen's commitment to his community and his dedication to law enforcement.

On 19 December 2007, Detective Vu Nguyen was shot and killed in the line of duty as he attempted to apprehend a fleeing suspect. He made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting his community. He is missed but will always be remembered for his professionalism, humor and for being a consummate team player.

The scholarship committee is seeking a dedicated person that intends to pursue a career in law enforcement. The recipient should demonstrate pride in their work and have a high level of integrity in their personal and professional interactions. These are all qualities exemplified by Detective Vu Nguyen.
